My son's hockey team had thier first game today AND thier first win! Go Bulldogs! They beat the Mentor team by a score of 4 to 3. Unfortunately I could only watch the first period of the game. But the first period was very exciting. Our goalie made a tremendous save. I thought for sure that the puck was going to go in, and somehow he managed to get his skate on it and push it out of the way. Way to go! Our next game is against Strongsville tomorrow evening.
I had to teach the range portion of a CCW class today, so I had to leave right after the first period. 11 of my 12 students I expected to see today showed up for 2 hours each in 2 different groups. One student was 45 minutes late and I had to send him home. Oh well. I'll have to arrange a different time for him to finish.
All of the students did very well. Each group had one women in it. Women, are by far the most natural shots of the two sexes. But they are the most nervous. After the initial intimidation factor wears off, they'l ...

Well, aside from the NHL, that is.
It's a shame that the NHL payers and owners can't come to an agreement. I don't know a whole lot about what the big differences are, except I understand the owners want a salary cap and the players don't. As a conservative, I can understand the owner's position. But I am also a capitalist, and can understand the player's position. The closest NHL team around here is in Columbus, and I have yet to go to a game, but I know the tickets can be incredibly expensive. I almost went to an NHL game in Buffallo, NY and the cheapest tickets were $50.00 a piece. Ouch.
My son plays for the local municipal hockey program. This is his second full season playing travel hockey, and his first year in the Squirt division. He loves to play hockey and he loves to skate. And I love watching him.
It looks like we have a great coaching staff. His head coach is Lou Milano, and his assistant coaches are Brian Be ...

I taught another of my Concealed Handgun License classes yesterday. We had 13 students all together. My good friend Roger helped me out teaching the class.
The class went realtively smoothly. But for some odd reason, we kept getting WAY ahead of schedule! I was sure we would be behind from time to time, but either the students were absorbing everything, or we were just really good at what we were doing. Judging by the test scores, I'll assume the latter is more of the case. It worked out, because we had plenty of time for questions, and we were able to add in some stuff we normally teach on the range.
It was a really long day. About 11 hours total for me to setup, teach, and take everything down. I used a series of 35mm slides I created for visual aids. I'm pretty sure they helped make the retention of the material easier. We'll be quicing the students next week at the range on some of the material. Maybe one lucky person in each of the two groups will get a prize.
The r ...

I've been working dilligently to convert my old web pages to use the style of the blog system. If you happen to be looking around on the site, you'll probably see some odd looking pages and maybe even a broken link or two. Sorry about all that.
I'm hoping to have the move completed in the next week or two, but I'm pretty busy working on several projects. I'm teaching a concealed handgun class this weekend and next, and the local hockey league has hired me and a colleague to redesign and reprogram thier website.
Busy busy busy.

OK. So I figured "Everyone else is doing it, why not me?"
Welcome to my blog. I have no idea what I will talk about from day to day or if I will even post anything on any given day. But sometimes it's good to just rant.
