I've made a lot of progress on the model railroad since I last blogged about it. All of the trackwork is done, the electrical is done, the DCC system is wired up. I bought a NCE Powercab from Al's Trains and Hobby near me. It was very easy to install. I recessed it into the side of the layout and plugged it in.
The scenery has a bit more work yet. I have most of the ground cover done. I still need to add some more junk to the stream bed before I pour in the Magic Water material. I still need to get some trees. I have always planned on using Super Trees from Scenic Express. But they are a bit on the pricey side. We'll see. The trees that Woodland Scenics makes aren't perfect, but they do look fairly OK. I saw them demonstrated when I went to the N Scale Convention in Louisville, KY.
I finally built this laser cut kit that I bough at the Berea Train Show. The Rabbit Hash General Store. The kit was very nice, but not the easiest to put together, mostly because the instructions SUCK. Sorry, but that's true. They were terrible.
I've completed all of the major structures on the layout except for some finishing touches on Earl's Oil. I'm not sure if I won't try and squeeze in something else back behind it.
